Félicitations!

So, cultural difference time. I think. Last year, when Hugo showed the movie at the Christmas party that he'd made (that I was in), a bunch of people came up and shook hands with me and said "Congratulations!". I remember thinking that was a really odd response; not at all unpleasant, but very formal compared to the "THAT WAS F**KING AWESOME" I would have expected to receive in the US. And the same thing happened again tonight. I think congrats are for milestones like pregnancies and engagements, getting a new job or a degree, or winning the lottery or a sporting competition. Congrats for acting like a total moron in an awesome but slightly frivolous creative project seems weird to me. Thoughts, invisible audience?
