And we're off...

...with no fanfare. I have done this before and wandered off, bored, so let's just see where this goes, shall we? I have lived a lot of places, but nothing really prepared me for how different Quebec is in every way, shape and form. I think about it all the time, so I am going to tell you about it now instead of Facebook.

I think we've seen the last of the grass this year, which will continue to be a very odd concept for me... literally MONTHS on end where you can't see the grass, your driveway is marked by a metal rod, your car doors freeze shut, and you have to open your mailbox with a kettle (no, really, I saw someone doing that the other day). And that not by smashing it with a kettle, that's by heating water up in a kettle and pouring it on your mailbox.

AND while we are here, let's talk about mailboxes. No one has one in front of their house, like in the US. It would be covered in a mound of snow for three months or eaten by a snow plow. The mailboxes here are grouped together, where they can be lovingly tended to by Canada post.

OK, that's enough for now. Salut!
